About Us
The Womxn’s Leadership Collective for Nature and Climate Action
The Womxn's Leadership Collective aims to connect and uplift hundreds of feminist leaders working at the intersections of climate action, gender, justice, and care
The Womxn’s Leadership Collective for Nature and Climate action supports and connects womxn-leaders to advance innovative climate solutions through building powerful relationships. We do this by offering spaces, workshops, resources, and grants to marginalized and gender-diverse changemakers centered around care, healing, and justice.
The Collective is built upon the radical idea that current approaches to solving the climate crisis are not nearly enough because we need to build new relationships, ideas and systems for us to create societies that take care of one another and Mother Earth. We want to uphold the sacred feminine and build deep, trust-based networks between generations of womxn across identities and regions to weave a new power base to tackle the systems that undeniably uphold discrimination and the destruction of nature.

Our Story
The origins of the Womxn’s Leadership Collective for Nature and Climate Action began with a small group of us trying to make sense of the impacts during COVID-19. We wanted to know whether the disruption enabled new paths to tackle inequality and the climate crisis. For this reason, in 2020 a group of women came together out of frustration with the challenges faced by women leaders working on nature and climate action. Led by MakeWay, hosted by The Systems Sanctuary, the participants of the group curated an intimate peer-learning community to deeply connect on shared struggles in their work. Thus, “The Kitchen Cabinet“ was born.
Over the course of the next seven months, a small but mighty cohort of intergenerational feminist environmental and social justice leaders and funders working across Turtle Island came together to share and document learnings. Additionally, this space allowed us to dive into challenges by listening, sense making, and deepening our understanding of how women can influence systems change and therefore support one another to do their work better in this field.
As a result, the Womxn’s Leadership Collective for Nature and Climate Action was born out of the Kitchen Cabinet sharing its ingredients.
